The subsidiary air mechanism, better known in the industry as the draft stabiliser, ensures a steady chimney draw. From 20 Pa a hinged flap opens so that constant conditions can be achieved in the waste gas flue. This means that even with fluctuating wind and weather conditions a steady optimum combustion can be achieved and low emissions ensured even with a strong chimney draw.
